The Resurrection of Jesus

The resurrection of Jesus is the cornerstone for Christianity. If Jesus was not raised from the dead, Christianity, just like many other religions is a set of belief systems which cannot be validated in any objective ways.

So, for any skeptics, it’s a very simple task to show that Christianity is false – all they have to do is to show that Jesus never rose from the dead. After all, resurrection of Jesus is a historical claim, not a scientific claim. Just like any other historical claim, all of us can verify this historical claim and come to a probable conclusion.

Many folks reject the resurrection of Jesus on the basis of philosophical reasons, not historical reasons. Their argument goes like this:
  1. Every event should have a natural explanation (miracle\supernatural cannot happen)
  2. There is no natural explanation for the resurrection of Jesus
  3. Therefore, the resurrection of Jesus is not true

This is a valid logical argument and in a valid logical argument, the conclusion is deduced from the premises. So let us examine the first premise.

The first premise assumes that the person who asserts possess all knowledge. Only a person who KNOWS everything in this universe can claim that miracles (supernatural) cannot happen. In other words, if there is no Supreme Being (God) out there, this premise is true. But with the following three arguments, it’s very probable that a Supreme Being exists and thus the first premise is false. If one of the premises is false then the conclusion is false also.

  • The Cosmological Argument shows the necessity of a timeless, spaceless, and immaterial Being who caused this universe to exist.
  • The Teleological Argument (Design Argument) shows the necessity of a Designer who is responsible for the design in the universe.
  • The Moral Argument shows the necessity of a Supreme Being because of the existence of “objective moral laws.”

And it’s sad that people who use this philosophical reasoning are not even willing to examine the historical evidence of the resurrection of Jesus. I rather not use the philosophical reasoning as I cannot affirm the first premise. I know for sure that I don’t possess all knowledge to make a statement like that.

I rather treat the resurrection of Jesus as a historical claim (just like we treat all historical claims) and examine the evidence for that and if the evidence is overwhelming, just like any other historical claims, it’s very probable that this event has occurred as in the claim.

My dear friends, if you are reading this post, please know that God’s desire for you is that you receive this Salvation through Jesus. Jesus died for our sins and God has validated Jesus claims by raising Him from the dead.

All of us know for a fact that something is wrong with us. Many of us will not acknowledge this in public. Every ideology tries to provide a solution for this problem. The ONLY one solution that is guaranteed is from Jesus Christ because He is the ONLY one who has offered a solution and validated that claim by this unique miracle!

Jesus said, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matt 11:28 -30
